Description
Ballast Resistor
- All car models from 1966 to 1975 (with chassis between 1942 and 22117)
This sealing ring is from the electrical & ignition section in the Rolls-Royce & Bentley parts catalogues for models built between 1965 to 1980.
The ballast resistor is a resistor contained in the primary ignition circuit wiring that lowers voltage after the engine is started to reduce wear on ignition components. Less well understood is the fact that ballast resistors provide appropriate compensation within a circuit for external demands placed on that circuit. One example of this would be to compensate for temperature changes.
